The Oriana Choir takes great pride, and pleasure, in announcing the imminent opening of its latest presentation, Pop Royalty. Premiering at Matthew Flinders Performance Centre, Buderim, on Sunday, March 22nd, and at The J, Noosa, on Saturday, March 28th, this marvellous concert programme showcases some of the greatest songs from the world of popular music over the past seventy years. From Nat King Cole to Lady Gaga, and including such pop icons as Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Tina Turner, John Farnham, Aretha Franklin, Sting and Ed Sheeran, to name just a few, Pop Royalty is truly a show that offers something for everybody, and then some.
These songs, and the artistes who gave them ‘household word’ status around the world really do deserve the red-carpet treatment. And that’s precisely what Oriana, in the process of preparing them for your listening and viewing delight, has given them. It’s been a genuine joy to revisit much loved favourite songs, and to learn new ones and be thrilled at discovering how wonderful they are, and then giving them all the Oriana magic dust.
Oriana is accompanied by a magnificent band, led by the multi-talented Scott Gaedtke, with the whole programme directed and conducted by the wonderful Elisabeth Wallis Gaedtke, whose leadership and guidance has been absolutely inspirational.
Over the course of more than a dozen choral arrangements, all of them superb and often sublime; a special offering by the Sunshine Coast Youth Choir; and a generous helping of some great solo performances – listen out for Adele, David Bowie, Paul Kelly, Don McLean and more – this show will have you rocking, rolling, singing, swaying, clapping, finger-snapping, grooving, jiving – and you won’t be able to keep a smile off your face!
If you loved “Dancing Queen’ from 2024, and last year’s “The Piano Men”, your loyalty to the kingdom of popular music is telling you that you wouldn’t want to miss Pop Royalty.
