Opening An Oriana Songbook in 3 Days' Time

There never was a truer saying than ‘tempus fugit’ – time really does fly, and in one direction only – forward.
It’s hard to believe that Oriana Choir has been rehearsing the repertoire for An Oriana Songbook for nearly three months. It feels more like three weeks! But that’s probably an indication of what an enjoyable experience this rehearsal season has been. A programme of varied, interesting, appealing, and unanimously beautiful songs; a musical director whose love and respect for the music has communicated itself, at times almost telepathically, to the choristers; an accompanist whose consummate skill and musicality has given life to the songs; and a choir that can’t wait to get on stage and share the love of this music with its audiences – Stella Maris, Maroochydore and St. Patrick’s, Gympie, what a sumptuous feast of glorious music awaits you!
And it’s all happening in just three more sleeps! Just three page-turns, and Page One of An Oriana Songbook will be open. The first number will set the tone, with its opening line – “I will be the gladdest thing”. And how glad Oriana will be to finally share this lovely music with you! Songs of love, of celebration, contemplation, compassion, beauty and love of life. Songs that will lift your spirits, and songs that will soothe your soul.

Long-time followers of Oriana will be aware of Oriana’s skill in a cappella singing, and will be delighted to know that there are several wonderful examples of this in the programme. Newcomers will experience at first hand the subtleties of light and shade that the Choir brings to its performance.
There is so much to enjoy in An Oriana Songbook. As the immortal John Lennon would most likely observe, “A splendid time is guaranteed for all!”
Just three more sleeps before the first reading. Just nine sleeps till the second. Yes, time flies. But don’t let it fly past you before you’ve been able to get your ticket for An Oriana Songbook!
