Sunshine Coast Oriana Youth Choir

The Sunshine Coast Oriana Youth Choir (SCOYC) was formed in 2009 with Elisabeth Wallis Gaedtke at the helm. This young choir is still in its infancy as a choral ensemble, but has already thrilled audiences with their dedication, passion and talent.

Oriana Arts Inc invites young singers aged 8 and over to join the SCOYC. This passionate young ensemble aims for excellence in vocal training and performance skills. SCOYC performs regularly with the adult Choir and also at their own events.

The Choir meets on Thursday afternoons at 4:00pm at the Maroochydore State High School music room in Maroochydore. Rehearsals conclude at 5:30pm and include a short snack break.

Conductor:  Elisabeth Wallis Gaedtke BMus (Qld Con), BEd

Elisabeth is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music where she studied Classical Voice. She is a classroom music teacher at Maroochydore State High School. Elisabeth has a passion for singing and encourages the importance of choral singing as it develops confidence, discipline, musical skills and abilities, friendships, and a love of music!

Accompanist:  Scott Gaedtke BMus (Qld Con), BEd, AMusA

Scott is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music where he studied Classical Piano. He is a classroom music teacher at Maroochydore State High School and is a regular accompanist for a number of ensembles on the Sunshine Coast. Scott is proud to be the accompanist of the SCOYC and Assistant Accompanist of the Sunshine Coast Oriana Choir.

New members are always welcome. Being able to read music and previous choir experience are an advantage but not essential. The only essentials are a love of singing and a good ear for music. To become a member, an annual fee of $50 is payable along with a fee of $5 per week which is invoiced at the start of each term (4 x 10 week terms per year).
